This morning, as I sped towards Indianapolis with the air conditioner blowing cold air and my coffee cooling off, I unwrapped my breakfast. McDonalds was the gift-or and I was the recipient.
Removing the biscuit sandwich from the waxed paper, I felt no reason to celebrate. I just ate.
This afternoon, I unwrapped my lunch from the Tamale-man.
Wax paper again? Perish the thought! My beautiful tamale was packaged in the proper corn husk in which a great tamale is served. Green Chile Cheese was my choice of the day. The corn masa was moist, yet not soggy. The cheese was hardy yet didn't overwhelm the dish nor was it greasy.
Upon opening the green chile sauce container, I started to have my doubts. Nothing even close to a chunky or even diced sauce. But it was perfect. The tamale soaked it up and the ensuing flavor was delicious!
Two presents; one wrapped in a man-made semi-recyclable wax-laden covering, one wrapped organically in a 100% natural and bio-degradable shell. Yes, you can judge a book by its cover.
(p.s. his wife makes the tamales and owns a catering business. i'll get the name and post it up here when I see them again.)
